Clay County Cattle

Black CowI’ve spent a lot of time lately looking at cattle. Fascinating creatures. So far, they aren’t huge fans of the camera but I aim to win them over. Calves are arriving every few days and they are irresistible subjects. The bulls are incredible and rather intimidating, frankly. But I think I will likely spend many days trying to capture that lumbering, large grace that is such a hallmark of my state.

Cattle are not only a big piece of the quilt of Texas but are a critical component of civilization, itself. Be it for milk, meat or labor, these beasts have been with us all along the way.
