This is without a doubt one of my favorite Texas driving scenes. I have always loved the simple geometry of hay bales scattered in the fields. I smile every time I pass one of these fields. They speak of bounty, self sufficiency, and planning ahead, which is nice, too. I think during the recent drought, many a Texas farmer or rancher would have loved to have their fields look like this one did this week. What a year it was.
This was taken somewhere around Scotland, Texas. I was driving from the Falls to PK to pick up my kids at grandma’s house and took a few more stolen moments to pull over and snap a few photos.
